It’s always fun to meet up with a friend over a delicious meal and a drink or two. In Frederick, Maryland, you have plenty of choices when it comes to locations to enjoy such a meal. Meet up with friends at these three fun Frederick restaurants.plate of food

  1. Hootch & Banter

Hootch & Banter opened in 2015 in the South Market Street building, a historic part of the city of Frederick. It once housed Kidd’s Café and The Canal Bar & Grill. The current owners of Hootch & Banter wanted to provide a welcoming atmosphere with delicious food and beverages, and currently serve as the restaurant’s executive chef and chief mixologist. This spot is open dinner Monday through Saturday, brunch on Sundays, and the upstairs lounge serves breakfast on Fridays and Saturdays.

The menu includes unique fare, such as the “Gingerbread Dutch Baby,” which features a gingerbread pancake cooked in a Dutch oven, topped with crème anglaise, blackberry compote, and candied pecans.

The drink menu includes cocktails, beer, liquor, and wine, making it a popular spot to meet up for a drink as well. On weekends, you can enjoy a glass of hot mulled wine, which is especially appealing when the weather is chilly. If you’re craving something sweet, order a treat from the dessert menu, such as a slice of Oreo cheesecake, an order of Market Street beignets, or the s’ mores pots de crème.

  1. The Wine Kitchen

The Wine Kitchen is another popular spot for meeting up with friends. It’s a modern, seasonal-style chophouse featuring a farm-fresh menu, an extensive list of wine and spirits, and a warm, historic vibe. No matter what type of food you’re craving, you can likely find something on the menu that fits your desires. All beef served comes from a ranch located just outside Baltimore, while other dishes are perfect for those who follow a vegetarian diet.

On the cocktail menu, you’ll notice that the 40+ wine options are organized in tasting flights that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with menu options. Although the menu incorporates seasonal ingredients and changes often, it always includes flavorful and healthy options, including salads, seafood, steaks, meats and cheeses, and poultry. This spot is also open for brunch, with tasty choices like French toast, quiche, omelets, eggs Benedict, pancakes, sandwiches, salads, and sweets.

  1. Wag’s Restaurant

Wag’s Restaurant is a low-key spot to enjoy a night with friends. It has been voted the place to get the “Best Burger in Frederick” more times than you can probably count, and the food is simple, tasty, and reasonably priced. Happy Hour specials are available on Monday through Saturday from 3 until 7 p.m., while Late Night Happy Hour is held every Friday.

Choose from options like soups, salads, burgers, subs served on house-baked rolls, and hot and cold sandwiches. It’s easy to catch up with your best buds while you’re sharing a “big batch” of the restaurant’s famous fries and sipping a cold drink.

Enjoy a meal out with your closest pals at one of these Frederick eateries. Each offers its own unique atmosphere and menu items, but all are worth visiting.
