Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm
As the first farm brewery in Maryland, Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm inspired many other farm breweries to open, providing craft beer lovers with something a little different from a traditional brewery. At Milkhouse Brewery, you’ll enjoy hops that are grown right on the farm alongside many other ingredients, and if Stillpoint Farm doesn’t grow it, chances are one of the neighborhood farms provides it. This is a way to celebrate neighborly farms and the local commitment to bringing the best brew to the community.
Milkhouse Brewery brews traditional styles of ales, including a local lager made with 100% Maryland-grown ingredients, a red ale named after a favorite local Irish farmer, and a pale ale that incorporates different varieties of Maryland-grown hops and grain.
Rockwell Brewery
Brewed onsite in downtown Frederick, Maryland, Rockwell Brewery beers include stouts, porters, reds, IPAs, blondes, and some barrel-aged options. Friends Paul and Matt started out with home brews, then joined with head brewer, Scott, who has a background in chemistry and an interest in using the best ingredients possible. They now operate Rockwell Brewery together so they can bring their customers an ever-growing list of flavor profiles and beer styles.
Olde Mother Brewing
Anyone who appreciates unique beer will want to visit Olde Mother Brewing. The brewmasters at this spot in historic downtown Frederick welcome any chance to experiment with different flavor profiles. Their 10-barrel brewhouse can accommodate visitors to their tasting room, distribution partners, and their goals of canning for the masses. Select brews include their Magic Cookie Dessert Stout, a Blackberry and Raspberry Sour, and the User Friendly, a double IPA with tangerine, pine, and grapefruit notes.
Frey’s Brewing Company
Frey’s Brewing Company is another farmhouse brewery, which means they brew on their farm in small batches and take some liberties that they feel their customers will love, including an open fermentation process. Some beers available at Frey’s Brewing Company include Bald Rabbit Nightmare, which is a dark Belgian-style ale made with pumpkins and chili peppers, and Gung-Ho Joe, which is a stout with roasting flavors and coffee notes.
Springfield Manor Winery, Brewery, and Distillery
Springfield Manor is an event venue that also offers its own wine, beers, and distilled spirits to guests. Springfield Manor is a historic estate whose founders named it after the unique terrain on the premises. Visitors can enjoy homemade craft beer, including the Toasted Coconut brown ale made with fresh coconut, and many other brews made with nearby spring water for a fresh taste.
