By the Numbers

The base engine in the 2020 Hyundai Kona is a 2.0-liter inline-four that generates 147 horses and 132 pound-feet in torque, matched up to a six-speed automatic transmission. At higher trim levels, you’ll upgrade to a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that gives you 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Kona comes with front-wheel drive standard, but as an option, you can upgrade to an all-wheel-drive with an updated rear suspension and a locking center differential to give you more traction. This will be essential when you’re trailblazing or dealing with inclement weather. 2020 Hyundai Kona blue

Cabin Technology

There’s also a wealth of standard and optional technology to keep you informed and entertained no matter where you go. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, an infotainment system driven by a 7-inch touch screen, and six speakers. At higher levels, you’ll upgrade to tech features like eight-speaker sound by Infinity, wireless device charging, satellite radio, and even an upgraded 8-inch touch screen, GPS navigation, and a heads-up display.

Safety Features

While you’re on your cross-country or off-road adventures, you’ll want features to keep you safe. The Hyundai Kona offers all the desirable safety features throughout its various trim levels. These include front-crash warning, automatic brakes, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance features. Stepping up a bit nets you features like blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, parking sensors, automatic high beams and wipers, and adaptive cruise control.

Comfort and Convenience

The Kona is built to keep you comfortable while you drive. Starting with the SEL and SEL Plus trims, you get features like heated front seats, a sunroof, and power driver seat adjustments. Kicking it up from there gets you automatic climate control, full real-leather upholstery, and other comfort and convenience features.

Storage Space

Behind the back seats, you’ll get 19.2 cubic feet of cargo space, which should be plenty of room to stash your luggage and gear. If you fold the seats down, you’ll increase that to 45.8 cubic feet of room for your suitcases, tent, sleeping bags, and anything else you need to take along. The 60/40 split-fold back seats allow you to customize the storage space to the exact configuration you need, so you never run out of room.
